About The Position
The Culinary Assistant supports the preparation, packaging, and serving of meals. The role also assists with cleaning and organizing food-preparation areas, food storage, and inventory. The Culinary Assistant works with the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef in a youth development organization serving children and young people.
Requirements
- At least one year of professional kitchen experience and/or enrollment in or graduation from culinary school.
- Understanding of food safety practices.
- Ability to use basic kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Ability to follow recipes and directions.
- Ability to be flexible and work well under pressure.
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- Love for youth and desire to work with children.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Responsibilities
- Support the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef as needed.
- Chop, cut, and prepare food.
- Help maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene.
- Assist with receiving deliveries.
- Organize food storage.
- Track inventory.
