Requirements

  • Five years (within the last 7 years) of related work experience
  • Chapter 74 MA Teacher’s License Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree may substitute for two of the three to five years of required employment experience (full time employment experience directly related to VocEd Licensure)

Responsibilities

  • Plans units and lessons to meet the individual needs, interests, abilities, and learning styles of students.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional and classroom management techniques to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Prepares lesson objectives and outline for course of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
  • Utilizes district determined curriculum guidelines, materials and associated tools.
  • Use appropriate techniques, strategies and tools that promote and enhance critical, creative, and evaluative thinking of students.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Communicates with parents to discuss student progress and concerns.
  • Complete report cards for students each trimester.
  • Update online grading system in the timeline established by the district administration.
  • Participates in school and district initiatives that promote professional growth, social emotional learning, and accessibility to curriculum.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to ensure student safety.
  • Collaborates with special education staff and paraprofessionals to preview unit goals, plan for accommodations, and make modifications as addressed in individualized education plans.
  • Collaborates with grade level colleagues, multidisciplinary team members, and support staff to promote student success.
  • Takes, records, and maintains attendance accurately in classes as required by law.
  • Provides instructional plans for substitutes to continue instruction due to absence.
  • Performs other responsibilities as deemed appropriate and assigned by a supervisor and/or designee.
