About The Position

Culinary Aides assist in the preparation and serving of quality food to residents, guests, and employees under sanitary conditions at Otterbein, a vibrant, not-for-profit retirement community.

Requirements

• 0-2 years of food service experience within a Long-Term Care environment preferred.

Nice To Haves

• High School diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to residents, partners, and guests with a positive attitude.
• Maintain good attendance.
• Take ownership of nursing neighborhoods during shifts.
• Collaborate with the nursing department to serve residents.
• Prepare and set up menu items according to standards.
• Accurately serve food and supplies on a moving tray line based on tray tickets and menu spreadsheets.
• Restock cafeteria and other areas with food and supplies courteously and promptly.
• Serve meals to residents in a courteous and timely manner.
• Scrape dirty trays and dishes, and operate the dish machine.
• Hand wash pots, pans, and other designated items.
• Maintain kitchen facilities, including floors, walls, equipment, and utensils, in a sanitary manner.
• Safely handle chemicals and educate employees on their use.
• Assist in the kitchen as needed.
• Ensure a clean and safe environment is maintained.
• Communicate and cooperate with dietary personnel and other departments.
• Maintain resident rights and confidentiality.
• Interact positively with residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
• Follow Universal precautions and Infection Control techniques.
