About The Position

Culinary Aides assist in the preparation and serving of quality food to residents, guests, and employees under sanitary conditions at Otterbein, a not-for-profit retirement community.

Requirements

• 0-2 years of food service experience within a Long Term Care environment preferred
• High School diploma or GED preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to residents, partners, and guests.
• Maintain good attendance.
• Take ownership of nursing neighborhoods.
• Collaborate with the nursing department to serve residents.
• Prepare and set up menu items according to standards.
• Accurately serve food and supplies onto trays according to tray tickets and menu spreadsheets.
• Restock cafeteria and other areas with food and supplies.
• Serve meals to residents courteously and in a timely manner.
• Scrape dirty trays and dishes and operate the dish machine.
• Hand wash pots, pans, and other designated items.
• Maintain kitchen facilities in a sanitary manner, including floors, walls, equipment, and utensils.
• Safely handle chemicals and educate employees about their use.
• Assist in the kitchen as needed.
• Ensure a clean and safe environment is maintained.
• Communicate and cooperate with dietary personnel and other departments.
• Maintain resident rights and confidentiality.
• Interact positively with residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
• Follow Universal precautions and Infection Control techniques.
