About The Position

New Vision Middle School in Highland, CA provides a dynamic learning environment where students explore their passions, develop leadership skills, and engage in forward-thinking education from the start of their academic journey. We are seeking a passionate and innovative 7th Grade Career Exploration Teacher to lead a foundational course introducing students to all 15 California Career and Technical Education (CTE) industry sectors. This course is designed to spark curiosity, inspire career awareness, and equip students with essential 21st-century skills through engaging, hands-on learning. This is more than a teaching role—it’s an opportunity to help young learners discover who they can become and where their futures might take them.

Requirements

  • Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or higher
  • Minimum of two (2) years or more of related work experience in the CTE industry sector
  • Possess or be eligible to obtain a valid California teaching credential in Career Technical Education (CTE)
  • Experience with computers and software applications.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to learn current software and equipment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasional standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching.
  • Regular use of a computer for planning and instruction.

Nice To Haves

  • Passion for working with middle school students and guiding them in self-discovery.
  • Knowledge of or strong interest in all 15 California CTE industry sectors.
  • Experience with project-based learning (PBL) or hands-on, interdisciplinary teaching approaches.
  • Commitment to equity and opportunity for all learners.

  • Bilingual in Spanish is highly desirable.
  • At least two years of proven high-impact teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong background in the related industry experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an engaging Career Exploration curriculum aligned to California’s 15 CTE industry sectors, including sectors like Health Science, Engineering, Arts, Public Safety, Information Technology, Business, Agriculture, and more.
  • Design project-based, exploratory learning experiences that integrate entrepreneurship, innovation, and real-world application.
  • Guide students through meaningful career discovery activities, simulations, role plays, and guest speaker experiences.
  • Introduce students to basic career readiness concepts: soft skills, resume building, time management, collaboration, and communication.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and counselors to connect CTE topics with academic content and school-wide initiatives.
  • Expose students to college and career pathways, high school CTE programs, and the future of work in diverse industries.
  • Support a growth mindset classroom culture that encourages exploration, creativity, and reflection.
  • Integrate technology to support learning and connect students with current industry tools and platforms.
  • Participate in school events, study trips, student showcases, and advisory committee activities.
  • Foster inclusive, culturally responsive instruction for all students.
  • Serve as a career and technical student organization (DECA, FBLA, FCCLA, etc.) and participate in competitions at the regional/district, state, and national levels
  • Adhere to the 12 elements of high-quality CTE of California
  • Other duties as assigned
