About The Position

Power Technical is a grades 6–12 school preparing students to be future leaders in the skilled trades. We integrate core academics with hands-on, project-based learning across disciplines such as construction, welding, machining, plumbing, manufacturing, automotive, electrical systems, and CAD/Engineering. Students build foundational knowledge through structured lessons and real-world applications in a supportive, skill-focused environment. The CTE Industrial Arts Teacher (Middle School) introduces 6th and 7th grade students to a broad range of skilled trades through exploratory, hands-on learning experiences. This role focuses on building foundational skills, safety awareness, and career exposure in areas such as basic woodworking, introductory engineering concepts, metal working, machining fundamentals, intro to construction, residential plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems, simple engines, automotive maintenance. Courses are 90 minutes in length and are supported by provided curriculum materials, including textbooks, chapter work, assessments, and quizzes. The teacher is responsible for delivering engaging instruction, reinforcing safety practices, and fostering curiosity and confidence in young learners who are new to industrial arts environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree + 2,000 hours of relevant industry experience
  • Associate's degree + 4,000 hours of relevant industry experience
  • Military veteran with applicable technical/trade experience
  • Ability to safely operate and demonstrate required trade tools and equipment for our curriculum
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with grades 6–7 (Typically 11 - 12 year-olds)
  • Willingness to implement structured instructional methods and curriculum
  • Commitment to student safety and engagement in a shop setting

Nice To Haves

  • Colorado CTE license
  • Experience working with or teaching middle school students
  • Background in one or more trade areas (woodworking, construction, automotive, electrical, etc.)
  • Familiarity with OSHA-10, NCCER, or similar industry standards

Responsibilities

  • Introduce students to foundational concepts across multiple industrial arts pathways
  • Teach and enforce shop safety procedures and proper tool usage
  • Facilitate hands-on, age-appropriate projects in a structured shop environment
  • Utilize provided curriculum resources (textbooks, lessons, quizzes, and tests) effectively
  • Support student skill development, engagement, and confidence in technical settings
  • Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe, organized workspace
  • Adapt instruction to meet the developmental needs of middle school learners
  • Collaborate with staff to align instruction with school-wide academic and career readiness goals
  • Promote problem solving skills
