About The Position

PASCO SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 1 is seeking a Career and Technical Education High School Health Science Teacher for Orion High School for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a 1.0 FTE position. The salary will be based on the 2026-2027 Certificated Salary Schedule. New hires are conditional upon passing a fingerprint screening.

Requirements

  • Washington State Career and Technical Education Certification in the subject area (or ability to attain).
  • 6,000 hours of documented work experience.
  • Willingness to recruit and facilitate an active industry advisory committee.
  • Demonstrated success supervising a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) and student leadership opportunities.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR card or ability to obtain one.
  • Willingness to provide CPR/First Aide Certification for students.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement innovative, researched-based instructional strategies for the purpose of improving student achievement.
  • Demonstrated experience as a collaborative, solution-oriented leader of his/her peers.
  • Demonstrate a core belief system that matches the guiding principles and vision/mission of the school and be willing to operate accordingly.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, express ideas clearly to various stakeholders, and actively listen to others.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in required trainings and professional development opportunities.
  • Willing and able to meet the commitments as outlined in the job description.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Willingness to obtain certification to teach College in the High School/CTE Dual Credit.
  • Bilingual/Biliterate in English/Spanish.
  • Teaching techniques which reflect interactive student-centered, project driven instruction and incorporate communicative activities and authentic assessment.
  • Training and experience with or deep understanding of high yield instructional strategies outlined in the Pasco School District’s Strategic Plan.
  • Knowledge and experience with teaching in an interdisciplinary, project-based learning environment.
  • Experience in collaboration with fellow educators and industry partners to create authentic, interdisciplinary projects to engage students.
  • Demonstrated experience in participating collaboratively with staff members for the purpose of improving student learning including using interdisciplinary practices.
  • Willingness to connect with the community to create experiential learning experiences for students within the health career sector.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an effective program of instruction in health science related courses meeting district and state approved program standards (frameworks).
  • Develop interdisciplinary projects by collaborating with an instructional team.
  • Develop student experiences that are authentic and connect with careers in the community.
  • Develop, implement, and supervise an approved Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) like Skills USA or HOSA, following the state approved guidelines for an approved CTSO (after school, nights, and weekends).
  • Manage and maintain industry related equipment.
  • Be actively involved in industry advisory committee activities; attend all meetings and activities (after school, evenings).
  • Organize and maintain a safe lab environment while teaching and promoting safety.
  • Review program needs and participate in the selection of equipment and instructional resources and materials.
  • Develop and implement a continuous improvement plan in alignment with state CTE standards.
  • Develop and monitor program budget; manage and submit purchases for the program.
  • Integrate technology into the instructional process; stay up to date with technology related to the program area.
  • Develop business and community partnerships; participate in internships and other industry related educational and training opportunities.
