About The Position
Assist Career & Technical Education (CTE) teachers in management of classroom activities, administrative requirements, industry-based certifications, and shop/lab safety. Work under supervision of certified teacher.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and 48.0 Semester hours of college coursework or Educational Aide Assessment Training
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Basic understanding of shop tools and the safe use of equipment
- Some experience working with children
Responsibilities
- Help maintain safe, neat, and orderly CTE classrooms, shops and lab spaces while working with individual students or a small group.
- Follow defined calendar to serve as a scheduled guest teacher for certified CTE teachers to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or a small group.
- Assist with proctoring of industry-based certification exam administration as allowed.
- Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment and instructional materials.
- Plan, organize and make workroom supplies, paper goods, and materials readily available to staff.
- Provide oversight to ensure equitable participation and the safety of students in CTE shops, labs and classrooms.
- Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside classroom as assigned by campus.
- Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
- Participate in specialized training related to CTE as needed.
