About The Position

The CT Technologist will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures, coordinating with physicians, preparing patients, administering IVs, positioning patients, and maintaining accurate patient records. This role requires a valid New York State registration, ARRT certification, and at least two years of relevant experience, including experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center. The schedule includes a mix of 12-hour and 8-hour shifts, with on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Valid registration as a healthcare professional in New York State, including injection therapy certification.
  • Completion of formal training in an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • New York State licensure must be obtained prior to commencing the position.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center is essential.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Injection certification is preferred but must be completed during the orientation period.
  • Familiarity with Philips and Siemens imaging equipment is advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cohesive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Verify patient identity and exam accuracy prior to conducting scans, ensuring adherence to departmental policies for patient safety.
  • Coordinate with physicians to facilitate accurate diagnostic imaging.
  • Prepare patients for procedures while providing clear explanations to enhance their comfort.
  • Administer IVs as needed for various tests.
  • Position patients correctly for scans, ensuring safe handling, especially for patients with limited mobility.
  • Maintain precise patient records by documenting essential components in the electronic health record (EPIC) system and ensuring images are forwarded to the PACS system post-exam.
  • Ensure the scanning facility is clean and safe for patient use.
