About The Position

Performs excellent patient care for all CT scans and x-rays. Quickly and accurately completes all paperwork to include orders, lab work and authorization confirmation. Monitors the safety of patients pertaining to radiation and contrast dose. This role will train ARRT Xray Techs in CT.

Requirements

  • Candidates who are ARRT Registered X-ray technologists who are willing to cross-train in CT will be considered.
  • Initial training may be during daytime hours.
  • CT experience
  • Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT registered in CT
  • BLS
  • Must be able to perform procedures in accordance to departmental protocols and standards.
  • Operates CT scanners, X-ray equipment, IV contrast injectors, O2 tanks.
  • Computer literate and knowledgeable of CR programs.
  • Must be up to date with local and federal regulations that apply to their licensure and role.
  • Must be able to access all patient history to review any allergies that could interfere with the patient’s test.
  • Must be able to communicate with the Radiologist or referring MD if a protocol needs to be obtained or a test needs to be altered.
  • Must be able to report malfunctioning equipment to the Radiology engineer.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift the appropriate weight determined by CR (50-75 lbs.).
  • Must have positive communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Examines orders and verifies request on patients.
  • Addresses any questionable orders to Radiologist before procedures.
  • Operates CT equipment with proficiency.
  • Operates Injector with proficiency.
  • Operates X-ray equipment with proficiency.
  • Handles paperwork/orders, email order requests and authorization.
  • Records medical history on designated history form.
  • Correlates test results and other lab data with the exam being performed.
  • Performs IVs, gives patients oral contrast, and does lab work if needed.
  • Monitors supplies/stock room.
  • Communicates with radiologist for protocols as needed.
  • Communicates with PACS/IT for imaging distribution if necessary.
  • Performs basic patient care functions and informs the Radiologist or nurse of any change in the patient’s condition if needed.
  • Must be competent with IVs.
