About The Position

This Per Diem CT Technologist position focuses on evening shifts. The role involves injecting patients with radioactive material as ordered by physicians, adhering to prescribed protocols. Responsibilities include maintaining department documentation, performing quality control and safety tests, and following radiation safety guidelines to comply with the ALARA principle. The technologist will perform radiologic examinations, ensure quality diagnostic CT images using appropriate techniques, and maintain patient films and electronic data. They will also order and verify radiopharmaceutical doses, check activity levels, and evaluate radiographs for technical acceptability. Comfort working in an Emergency Department setting is required, along with other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • NY State DOH License in Radiologic Technology
  • BLS certification
  • ARRT certification in Radiography (R) and Computed Tomography (CT)
  • 1 year minimum experience, including OR procedures and portables
  • Proficiency in Fluoroscopic / portable radiology / OR procedures
  • Knowledge of McKesson PACs and image cast Radiology Information systems (RIS)
  • Experience in digital & computed radiography

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiologic examinations on patients referred by physicians in accordance with radiologic protocols.
  • Operate equipment for routine diagnostic, operating room, and portable procedures.
  • Utilize appropriate kV and mA techniques to ensure quality diagnostic CT images.
  • Perform daily quality control calibration checks on all equipment.
  • Inject patients with radioactive material as per physician’s order following the prescribed protocol.
  • Observe all department documentation policies by filling in all appropriate logs, manuals, charge documents.
  • Report equipment problems to comply with regulatory agencies.
  • Perform quality control, quality assurance, and safety tests.
  • Follow radiation safety guidelines to comply with ALARA principle.
  • Maintain and develop and retrieve patient films and electronic date for Radiologist interpretation.
  • Order patient-specific radiopharmaceutical doses 1-day prior to use.
  • Receive radiopharmaceutical on day of delivery and verify proper receipt as per policy and procedure.
  • Verify activity level of the dose prior to administration.
  • Evaluate radiographs for technical acceptability.
  • Work in an Emergency Department setting.
