About The Position

The CT Technologist PRN independently performs routine and complex CT examinations, applying established protocols while exercising sound clinical judgment to adapt techniques based on patient condition and diagnostic requirements. This role utilizes core knowledge and skills to function as a competent, independent technologist, performing a full range of CT exams and adjusting protocols based on patient condition and clinical indication to deliver safe, high‑quality, and efficient patient‑centered care in routine and emergent settings. The technologist prepares patients for procedures, correlates clinical history with physician‑ordered exams, and safely administers contrast per protocol. They demonstrate the ability to recognize basic imaging artifacts and implement corrective measures, effectively communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and the care team, and accurately transfer images and associated data to designated systems. Additionally, the role involves completing basic technical documentation, preparing studies for physician reporting, carrying out operator‑level quality control checks, cleaning, high‑level disinfection, and basic equipment maintenance. The CT Technologist also actively participates in continuing education and professional development to maintain competencies and advance quality of care, and supports inventory tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited imaging, radiology or nuclear medicine program as defined by ARRT or Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.
  • At least 1 year of CT experience required.
  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • ARRT(RT)(CT) certification is required upon hire.
  • Solid knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, CT imaging principles, and radiologic terminology.
  • Applies core‑level primary specialty theory and techniques to independently perform CT exams, complete post‑processing and image analysis, and accurately annotate study data and procedure documentation with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to prioritize and independently complete clinical and non‑clinical work assignments with limited direction.
  • Communicates effectively through verbal and written means to convey accurate, timely information and collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicates and collaborates with patients, families, and the care team to support desired clinical outcomes and service standards.
  • Accurately transfers images and associated data to designated systems, completes basic technical documentation, and prepares studies for physician reporting.
  • Carries out operator‑level quality control checks, cleaning, high‑level disinfection, and basic equipment maintenance per manufacturer instructions and regulatory requirements.
  • Accurately document in EMR/PACS
  • Actively participates in continuing education, professional development, and research initiatives to maintain competencies and advance quality of care and treatment practices.
  • Supports inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
