About The Position

Under the direction of the CT Team Leader, performs a variety of CT procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. The rate is $52.00 hourly. This role involves conducting computed tomography (CT) procedures, including assisting radiologists with biopsies, cardiac CT, CT Angiograms, and post-processing. The technologist selects proper protocols, technical factors, positioning devices, and study-specific equipment. They produce computed tomography scans for diagnostic interpretation and ensure radiation safety for patients, personnel, and the public. Responsibilities include identifying and archiving patient images, maintaining records, documenting all related data, and managing the radiology information system. The role also involves administrative duties such as conducting oneself professionally, being subject to on-call status, referring unresolved problems to the CT Team Leader, promoting professionalism and continuing education, participating in in-service programs, and responding respectfully to all individuals. The technologist must maintain professional attire, follow hospital and department policies (including HIPAA), greet patients and others courteously, attend mandatory sessions, adhere to attendance policies, and demonstrate knowledge of CHOP and department procedures. They are expected to resolve or escalate complex issues, monitor CHOP email for updates, and perform other assigned duties. This includes providing a clean, safe environment, reporting incidents, and keeping the work area neat. Collaboration in staff meetings, committees, and projects is expected, along with timely completion of assignments and contribution to departmental goals. The technologist must demonstrate knowledge of quality improvement values and participate in initiatives. Identifying and meeting learning needs through education programs, documenting training, and applying new knowledge to daily work are crucial. They must also adhere to cost control standards by monitoring supply and equipment usage. The role requires demonstrating knowledge and ability to render age-appropriate care and services based on patients’ developmental needs and providing Family Centered Care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED - Required
  • Certificate Radiology - Required
  • At least two (2) years of work experience and/or trained in a CHOP affiliated program - Required
  • Computed Tomography (CT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) - upon hire - Required or Computed Tomography (CT) - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) - upon hire - Required
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Required
  • Intermediate knowledge of MRI Imaging (Required proficiency)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Radiology Information System (Required proficiency)
  • Provides Family Centered Care (Required proficiency)
  • Integrates knowledge and assessment of child and family (Age Specific Competency) (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to handle confidential matters and matters (Required proficiency)

Responsibilities

  • Conducts a variety of computed tomography (CT) procedures including assisting radiologists with biopsies, cardiac CT, CT Angiograms, and post-processing.

  • Responsible for proper identification on images, including both identification and demographic information 100% of the time.
  • Document all related data.
  • Maintains appropriate records of examinations and CT procedure log 100% of the time.
  • Identify, process, transfer and archive patient exams including exam records, images and patient demographics.
  • Maintain the integrity and security of the radiology information systems 100% of the time.
  • Conducts self in a professional manner
  • Subject to on-call status including weekends and holidays.
  • Refers any unresolved problems relating to staffing, morale, work methods, discipline and other activities to the CT Team Leader Technologist 100% of the time.

  • Participates in the formal in-service program provided for the Radiology Complex 95% of the time.
  • Responds promptly and positively to patients, families, associates, and all others in a respectful, courteous, and confidential manner.
  • Always maintains identifiable/professional attire, including using name tags and ID cards.
  • Follows hospital and department procedures and policies.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations

  • Attends mandatory sessions/meetings/in-services .

  • Review policy and procedure updates from managers and CHOP
  • Resolve or escalate complex issues.
  • Monitors CHOP email on a regular basis to keep informed regarding scheduling updates, workflow updates, policy and procedure updates and all information relevant to the position.
