The CT Technologist is accountable for performing CT scans and post-processing according to established clinical protocols, guidelines, and department operating procedures. This role involves transporting patients, assisting with patient transfers, and monitoring patient condition during CT procedures. The technologist will work with radiologists to tailor protocols, follow correct CT Department Technologist workflow, position patients correctly, and perform optimal scans using appropriate technical factors and shielding. They will also perform advanced CT imaging techniques such as CT angiography, 3D, MIPS, VR, Vessel Analysis, and MPRs, and operate support equipment. The role requires initiating IVs for contrast media administration and preparing patients by explaining procedures and answering questions. Additionally, the CT Technologist is responsible for maintaining good customer relations, obtaining pertinent patient history, documenting patient information, assisting in scheduling, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Keeping state licensure, certifications, and CPR card current is also a key responsibility, as is staying abreast of current CT procedures and developments, and training new staff and students. The technologist will coordinate the scheduling of inpatients, outpatients, and ER patients for efficient utilization of CT equipment and personnel.
