Requirements

  • High school graduate and equivalent and satisfactory completion of formal radiological technology training in an AMA approved school and meet the requirement for registry by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) or its equivalent and must maintain their continuing educational requirements.
  • Washington State Certification required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Must be able to adjust system parameters to produce the best quality images while minimizing radiation exposure to the patient.

Responsibilities

  • Apply roentgen rays safely to patients for diagnostic purposes upon the request of a physician.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and can identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.
  • Positions patients to produce a radiograph as prescribed by a qualified physician.
  • Provides immobilization devices as required.
  • Adjusts controls of equipment as needed to produce a radiograph as prescribed by a qualified physician.
  • Administers drugs or chemical mixtures orally or as enemas to render organs opaque.
  • Provides radiation protection as needed per exam.
  • Processes films digitally.
  • Possesses knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement principles and supports the hospital's philosophy of performance improvement. Participates on Quality Action Teams using the F.A.D.E. process.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to interact positively with Administration, Directors, Managers, Supervisors, peers, co-workers, subordinates, patients and visitors.
