Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to radiation safety principles. This role involves assessing the patient's physical condition and age-specific needs, providing instructions for cooperation, and performing proper patient identification and clinical history acquisition. The technologist will position patients and equipment, manipulate technical factors for high-quality images, and assess images for technical quality and completeness. A key aspect of the role is applying radiation safety principles to minimize exposure and adhering to Quality Control standards. Proficiency in contrast medication administration, including venipuncture and evaluation of IV access, is required, as is the ability to administer medical aid in emergencies. Standard precautions and personal protective equipment are to be applied to prevent cross-contamination. The position also involves assisting in the supervision of students and training new technologists, effective utilization of radiology computer systems, and ensuring customer safety. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work area and equipment, as well as providing patient transport, are also responsibilities.
