Performs CT scans and reformations according to established clinical protocols, guidelines, and department operating procedures. This includes positioning patients, performing optimal scans using correct technical factors and protocols, and utilizing the lowest amount of radiation necessary for a diagnostic scan as per ACR guidelines. The role involves performing CT angiography, 3D reconstruction, and post-processing of computer data. The technologist is responsible for following the correct CT Department Technologist workflow, operating support equipment, and initiating IVs for contrast media administration. They will prepare patients by explaining procedures and answering questions, and may transport patients. The role also involves working with radiologists to tailor protocols, obtaining pertinent patient history, and documenting all patient information accurately for department records, billing, and statistics. Additionally, the technologist must be compliant with safety standards, coordinate scheduling, stay updated on CT procedures and developments, maintain licensure and certifications, and foster good relationships with internal and external customers.
