About The Position

The CT technologist Intern is a development position within the Singing River Health System. They are required to complete the internal 4-month on- the-job training program. The CT technologist Intern work under the supervision of the preceptor, physician, to provide radiologic care and services to patients by arranging and operating equipment in order to produce images of the human body for the purpose of diagnosis and treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders. The CT Technologist Intern ensures that the Radiology department meets current accreditation program and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists standards and achieves the Singing River Health System objectives. They operate equipment requiring detailed concentration for extended periods of time, stocks an adequate inventory of supplies at all times, and maintains quality control of procedures and quality assurance of equipment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Must be a graduate or currently enrolled in an accredited JRCERT program.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited JRCERT Program or must registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Must maintain a minimum of 24 ECE points in each two (2) year period as required by the AART in Radiology.
  • Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
  • Must be able to work schedules assigned with the understanding that changes are in accordance to the needs of the hospital for off days, shifts, or weekends.
  • Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities.
  • Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.
  • Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required.
  • Must have the ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.
  • Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.
  • Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word.
  • Must be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages.

Nice To Haves

  • CT Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists preferred.
  • CT certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists within in 12 months of completing program.
  • Healthcare and /or radiology experience preferred.
