About The Position

The CT Scan Technologist 1 is responsible for verifying patient identification, conducting patient interviews to assess discomfort, and obtaining necessary consent before procedures. This role involves maintaining and cleaning equipment, supervising and performing imaging procedures under radiologist direction, and performing venipunctures and contrast administration safely. The technologist will notify appropriate personnel of patient status changes, assist radiologists, and adhere to safety, security, and infection control standards. Participation in quality improvement activities, preparation of automatic injectors with contrast, and adherence to University policies are also key functions. The ability to work independently and collaboratively is essential. This list of duties is not exhaustive and may be expanded as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in relevant field
  • ARRT registration
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies patients’ ID by checking their name and date of birth.
  • Conducts patient interviews to describe level of discomfort or pain prior to, during, and after the exam.
  • Obtains necessary consent from patients before conducting procedures.
  • Maintains and cleans all equipment in accordance with decontamination procedures.
  • Supervises and performs imaging procedures under the direction of a radiologist using age appropriate standards of practice.
  • Performs venipunctures, contrast administration, and other relevant procedures in a safe manner.
  • Notifies appropriate person of any change(s) in patients’ status.
  • Assists the radiologist throughout procedures, with all the necessary supplies.
  • Follows safety, security, and infection control standards.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure continuous improvement of services provided.
  • Prepares automatic injector with proper contrast, adjusting all settings and parameters according to procedure requirements and radiologist preference.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
