About The Position

Guthrie is hiring CT Scan Technologists with sign-on bonuses up to $50,000. This is an opportunity to join a supportive, mission-driven team that values its caregivers. The role involves performing a variety of technical procedures using ionizing radiation equipment for radiological diagnosis, under the direction of a radiologist and supervisor with minimum supervision. The technologist will maintain the daily function of the Computerized Axial Tomography department and perform patient care in the CT area.

Requirements

  • Associates degree with additional skills training (certification).
  • Two years.
  • ARRT(R) Certification required unless grandfathered and, in those cases, ARRT Certification IS preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience.
  • Experience in CT and/or other subspecialty area recommended.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced certification (ARRT)(CT) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate the scanning procedure at the proper anatomical level.
  • Check prescription/request, provisional diagnosis, hospital chart and patient identification.
  • Explain the procedure to the patient, means of communication during scan and procedure to follow, if emergency arises during scanning procedure.
  • Advise the patient of the possibility and/or necessity of an intravenous contrast injection and the precautions or contraindications involved with such an injection.
  • Prepare room and equipment according to anatomical area to be scanned, per request and history.
  • Select correct computer protocol and initiate scan maintaining visual and/or audible communication with the patient during the scanning procedure.
  • Operate Electronic Health record, scan equipment, contrast injectors and PACs systems.
  • Transfer the patient safely to the scanner couch, being especially cognizant of catheters, intravenous bottles, respiration aids, areas of recent trauma and patient level of consciousness or mental state.
  • Immobilize, pack and center patient to scanner gantry at appropriate anatomical level.
  • Prepare medium and patient for intravenous injection of contrast material in amount prescribed by radiologist.
  • Monitor patient's condition during and post injection and be aware of reaction and/or distress signals associated with the injection of contrast materials.
  • Approach and solicit the cooperation of the patient.
  • Monitor scanner systems for program errors, correction of same or notification of repair facility.
  • Prepare appropriate images and other material to be sent to referring physicians.
  • Monitor scan equipment in order to avoid equipment failure.
  • Perform "warm up" of scanner, including daily QA procedures.
  • Observe all appropriate radiation safety measures for patients and personnel.
  • Complete understanding of the functionality of the EPIC and PACs computer systems as it relates to your area.
