About The Position

The CT Scan Technologist is responsible for the maintenance and quality of patient care on a continuing basis for the CT department and throughout the organization. This role involves confirming patient identification, efficiently managing schedules and patient flow, producing high-quality CT scans using proper positioning and techniques, and proficiently operating scanners. The technologist will follow all protocols and procedures to meet department standards, work closely with the radiology nurse and radiologist for specific procedures, and utilize the Radiology Information System for documentation. Adherence to radiation safety regulations (NRC and State) to keep exposure ALARA is crucial. The role also includes reviewing patient charts for physician orders, communicating equipment issues, using the hospital computer system for orders and charges, educating patients and families, performing safety inspections, and following ACR Guidelines for accreditation. Additionally, the technologist is expected to work collaboratively to improve work quality, adhere to Service Excellence Standards, exhibit excellent customer relations, and demonstrate courteous communication and good judgment. Attendance at required orientations and meetings, and presenting a positive image through attire and etiquette are also expected. Commitment to flexible work scheduling for patient care needs is required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program in radiologic technology
  • Previous experience as a registered technologist is required
  • ARRT (CT) registered within 18 months
  • BLS certified within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Confirm patient identification prior to procedure by verbal confirmation on outpatients and by the identification band on in-patients
  • Use schedule to maximum efficiency, maintain patient flow, and schedule add-ons
  • Produce high quality CT scans through proper positioning and technique
  • Proficiently use scanners to include sending to Nighthawk, 3DR, and VRAD
  • Follow all protocols and procedures to meet department standards
  • Work closely with the radiology nurse and the radiologist when performing biopsy and drainage procedures
  • Utilize assigned functions with the Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and to document contrast media reactions
  • Follow department, NRC, and State regulations for radiation safety to keep exposure "ALARA"
  • Review patient’s chart for confirmation of physician's orders and follow written and/or verbal protocols and instructions
  • Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to the appropriate lead
  • Utilize the hospital computer system to enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges, and/or credits
  • Educate patient, and family when necessary, regarding the exam, treatment, and outcome
  • Perform visual preventative safety inspections and report dangerous department or equipment conditions to the appropriate personnel
  • Follow ACR Guidelines to maintain ACR Accreditation
  • Perform other duties as assigned
