About The Position

To provide support and assistance to all classroom teachers in the implementation of ISANA's program goals. This role involves instructional coaching and development, acting as an instructional supporter, curriculum and content facilitator, data coach, facilitator for change, continuous learner, professional learning facilitator, resource identifier, and school leader support. The goal is to increase the quality and effectiveness of classroom instruction and student achievement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • California Teaching Credential
  • CLAD or BCLAD
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience in the elementary or secondary level
  • Experience in collaborative planning and delivery of differentiated staff development to classroom practitioners
  • Literacy training
  • Knowledge of differentiated classroom instructional practices that promote student academic success
  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of a diverse student population
  • Curriculum Specialists are required to possess all knowledge, skills and abilities that are required of classroom teachers.
  • Ability to travel by train, plane, or other means both inside and outside of the Los Angeles area.

Responsibilities

  • Increase the quality and effectiveness of classroom instruction by modeling, collaborating, co-planning, co-teaching, conducting observations, and providing descriptive feedback.
  • Support the implementation of effective instructional strategies, including developing, implementing, and analyzing assessments for learning, English Learner Development, infusing culturally relevant teaching strategies, identifying reading and math difficulties, and planning interventions.
  • Promote implementation of the Common Core State Standards and ISANA instructional program by monitoring curriculum implementation, assisting teachers with curriculum and pacing, guiding teachers in understanding state standards, and creating curriculum and instruction-related documents.
  • Facilitate conversations using data to drive instructional decisions, including analyzing student achievement data and guiding teachers in using data to improve student learning.
  • Engage teachers in reflective thinking about their instructional practices by fostering a safe, trusting environment and demonstrating excellent listening and professional communication skills.
  • Engage in continuous learning to stay current through professional development opportunities, professional reading, and practicing and reflecting on learned material.
  • Design and facilitate effective professional learning opportunities, including providing school and organization-wide professional development, planning and facilitating grade level meetings, and coordinating other forms of professional development.
  • Identify a variety of resources to enhance classroom instruction and student achievement, including instructional and assessment resources requested by teachers and sharing research and instructional best practices.
  • Support and communicate school and Celerity-wide initiatives with the school community, including participating in school improvement planning, maintaining professional relationships with parents, coaching teachers in parent informational meetings, and working with administrators on student programs.
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as the letter and the spirit of the Charter and the Governing Board policies and directives from the Principal/Designee.
