As a Certified CS/SPD Technician, you will play a key role in how our operating rooms care for our patients as a whole team relies on you to successfully set up the operating room. Certified CS/SPD Technicians receive ample support, training and education, including learning how to operate the latest, state-of-the-art processing equipment and using the newest sterilization tools and concepts. A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. with weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Sterile Processing Distribution Certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) must be maintained
  • Two to five years of experience in Central Service/Sterile Processing areas
  • Military experience, such as Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F), considered
  • Ability to use Computerized Instrument Tracking System to perform assigned duties, including obtaining instrument count sheets, special handling instructions for instrumentation, documenting sterilization loads, and other tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Basic computer skills
  • Two to five years of experience in central service/sterile processing areas
  • Completion of a recognized training program with certification in central service/sterile processing

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.
  • Perform case pull functions.
  • Supports departmental initiatives to meet productivity standards and adapt to flexible staffing needs
  • Demonstrates proper handling of equipment, instrumentation, and chemicals while adhering to preventative maintenance schedules and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards during the decontamination process.
  • Determine appropriate case carts to be built for specialty procedures.
  • Build case carts using electronic preference cards and dispatches them to appropriate locations
  • Dispatch case carts to ensure availability for surgical/clinical procedures.
  • Perform record keeping, ordering, stocking and inventory control.
  • Scan, sort and inspect instruments for functionality and cleanliness and assemble instruments according to provided lists, wraps and labels.
  • Monitor and control the distribution of supplies and equipment.
  • Upon completing preceptor guidelines, perform preceptor duties and assist in educating non-certified technicians
