As a Certified CS/SPD Technician, you will play a key role in how our operating rooms care for our patients as the whole team relies on you to successfully set up the operating room. Certified CS/SPD Technicians receive ample support, training and education, including learning how to operate the latest, state-of-the-art processing equipment and using the newest sterilization tools and concepts. By taking on this role, you will have a major impact on patient care by helping to ensure the safety and health of the patient. A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Sterile Processing Distribution Certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) must be maintained
  • Military experience, such as Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F), considered
  • Ability to use Computerized Instrument Tracking System to perform assigned duties, including obtaining instrument count sheets, special handling instructions for instrumentation, documenting sterilization loads, and other tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Basic computer skills
  • Two to five years of experience in Central Service/Sterile Processing areas

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.
  • Perform case pull functions.
  • Determine appropriate case carts to be built for specialty procedures.
  • Build case carts ensuring adherence to procedures.
  • Dispatch case carts to ensure availability for surgical/clinical procedures.
  • Perform record keeping, ordering, stocking and inventory control.
  • Scan, sort and inspect instruments for functionality and cleanliness and assemble instruments according to provided lists, wraps and labels.
  • Monitor and control the distribution of supplies and equipment.
  • Upon completing preceptor guidelines, perform preceptor duties and assist in educating non-certified technicians
