About The Position
Directs the actions of children and traffic at street intersections and school entrances to ensure safe crossings; monitors and enforces school zone speed limits. This position is a non-supervisory classification and receives limited supervision, consulting with Field Supervisor in unusual situations.
Requirements
- Must be able to think and react independently to various situations.
- Degree from an accredited high school, or GED.
Responsibilities
- Patrols street crossings and school entrances during hours when children are going to and coming from school.
- Directs the actions of children and traffic
- Escorts children across the street
- Records license numbers of vehicles disregarding the school zone speed limit
- Places and removes caution signs and cones
- Cautions drivers of speeding vehicles by use of whistles and/or hand signals
