About The Position

The School District of Onalaska is seeking caring community members and retirees to serve as substitute crossing guards for morning and afternoon shifts near Onalaska Middle School, Irving Pertzsch, and Northern Hills. This role offers ultimate flexibility, working on an as-needed basis when regular guards are unavailable, with no fixed daily commitment. The shifts are short, just one hour in the morning before school and one hour after school dismissal. Crossing guards play a vital role in keeping students safe as they head to and from school each day. The position involves assisting children in safely crossing streets, directing pedestrian and local traffic, and serving as a friendly, safety-minded presence in the neighborhood.
