About The Position

The Athletic Coach is responsible for organizing, supervising, and instructing student-athletes in the assigned sport while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, skill development, and character. The coach supports the district’s educational mission by providing a safe and positive athletic experience for all participants. This role involves planning and conducting practices, teaching sport-specific skills, promoting good sportsmanship, supervising student-athletes, ensuring compliance with IHSAA rules, monitoring academic eligibility, communicating with stakeholders, maintaining equipment, and modeling professionalism. Additionally, the coach is expected to nurture positive relationships, demonstrate respect, support corporation decisions, work as a team player, and handle sensitive issues tactfully and confidentially.

Responsibilities

Plan and conduct practices, training sessions, and competitions.
Teach sport-specific skills, rules, and strategies.
Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and responsible behavior among student-athletes.
Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and related activities.
Ensure compliance with district policies and rules established by the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA).
Monitor student-athlete academic eligibility and encourage academic success.
Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, school staff, and administration.
Maintain equipment, uniforms, and program records.
Model professionalism and positive conduct consistent with district expectations.
Nurture a positive relationship with super-ordinates, subordinates and peers.
Demonstrate respect for super-ordinates, subordinates and peers.
Support corporation decisions and direction relative to matters of policy and administrative directives.
Work as a team player.
Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.
