About The Position

Shorter University, a NCAA Division II institution that competes in the Conference Carolinas, is currently accepting applicants for the position of Cross County Coach/Assist. Track and Field Coach. This position will be responsible for sport specific coaching, helping with Student-Athlete development, evaluating and recruiting prospective student-athletes, and assigned administrative duties. This position will report to the Track and Field Director. All activities shall be conducted within the policies and resource framework of Shorter University, the Athletics Department, Conference Carolinas, and the NCAA.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Previous coaching experience in track and field or cross country.
• A committed Christian, with an active church membership.
• Shorter University is a Christ centered University affiliated with the Georgia Baptist Mission Board and requires employees to be committed Christians.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Head Coach for men’s and women’s cross country and Assistant track & field coach for distance events.
• Works to accomplish the objectives of the sport as set forth by the University, while working within the guidelines of the NCAA and Conference Carolinas policies.
• Coach and recruit qualified student-athletes with a primary focus on the distance events within the cross country and track and field programs.
• Write and conduct all cross country/distance events training.
• Help Arrange travel and meals for cross country/track and field team.
• Assist with fundraising opportunities and academic support of cross country/track and field teams.
• Assist with inventory of uniforms and equipment; and ordering fill-ins and new as needed.
