About The Position

This is a paid internship with an hourly rate of $20/hr, lasting from May 2027 to August 2027. Based in our East Lansing, MI office, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the local community while being an integral part of our organization. GreenStone Farm Credit Services understands the vital role of crop insurance in safeguarding the livelihoods of farmers. We're looking for a dedicated intern to join our team and assist in the efficient management of crop insurance-related tasks. Interns will gain hands-on experience in the agricultural finance industry, networking opportunities with professionals, the chance to work on meaningful projects, mentorship, and a dynamic work environment.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agribusiness, or business.
  • Sophomore status or above in your academic program.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.00 is required.
  • Strong interest in or prior experience working in the agricultural sector.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Review insured's acreage reports, verifying information obtained from the insured or the Farm Service Agency (FSA).
  • Process, input, and upload the updated acreage report into the insurance provider's system, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage internal document storage and recordkeeping using tools such as Journey+ and OnBase, maintaining organized and easily accessible records.
  • Download, print, and mail fall production reports and applications to insured parties, facilitating the insurance application process.
