The company has over 4,000 employees and 28 locations across the U.S. This role, a Critical Power Field Technician (UPS Field Engineer), is based in Los Angeles, CA, and surrounding areas. The technician will be responsible for the onsite preventive, corrective, and restorative maintenance of critical power systems, including UPS, DC systems, inverters, PDUs, STS, and standalone reserve battery technologies. The position requires a commitment to excellence, a strong desire to learn new skills, and the ability to provide swift and superb solutions to customer needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years serving in a third-party critical power field service or technical support role with a demonstrated progression in technical proficiency and capability -OR- Minimum of five (5) years serving in an OEM service environment in the critical power space.
  • Good understanding of AC/DC electrical principles.
  • Knowledge of test equipment operation, such as multi-meters, and battery test equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronics schematics with the ability to troubleshoot failures/faults to the component level.
  • Understand and have experience enforcing compliance with FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations and standards.
  • Outstanding work ethic, punctuality, trustworthiness, and reliability.
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions within fast-paced changing priorities.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (if driving a Company Vehicle) and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds for short durations.
  • Ability to kneel or crouch periodically.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to travel for multiple days with Per Diem as projects require.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining 100% safety awareness.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and stretch above your head.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior military training in electronics or avionics (A School, AIT, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Install electrical equipment such as small rack-mounted UPS equipment, various-sized batteries, and UPS/Battery monitoring equipment.
  • Maintain Battery Cabinets and racks, Maintenance Bypass, Battery Monitoring Equipment, DC Systems, and other electrical equipment.
  • Perform periodic and lifecycle-driven remedial services, including failure analysis and troubleshooting, component replacements and repairs, and battery string replacements and installations.
  • Build customer relationships by providing excellent customer service and upsell products.
  • Field troubleshooting calls from customers to a satisfactory resolution.
  • Quickly respond to critical situations.
  • Teach and mentor crew members on proper techniques for site work, troubleshooting, repair, and analyzing site data.
  • Isolate basic hardware, software, and interface malfunctions utilizing various test equipment on multiple products and technologies.
  • Specific duties may vary or evolve over time based on business and client needs.
