About The Position

Central Power Systems & Services, a privately held company established in 1954, is seeking a Critical Power Technician to uphold its mission of forging long-lasting partnerships by providing first-class customer support. The company services all brands of emergency standby generators, automatic transfer switches, switchgear, and other related accessories. The normal working shift is 7 AM to 4 PM, with common opportunities for overtime. Technicians must be willing and able to work overtime as needed and will join a rotating after-hours on-call calendar once capable of working independently in the field. Ideal candidates will have prior experience with generator sets, diesel & gaseous engines, and industrial/commercial electrical distribution, but the company prioritizes technicians eager to grow their skills.

Requirements

  • Flexibility and willingness to be On-Call, and able to work Overtime on occasion
  • Willingness and Ability to Travel Overnight
  • 2 Years experience with higher voltage Generator Maintenance (CAT, Kohler, Cummins equipment)
  • Electrical and mechanical knowledge of diesel-powered generators
  • Diagnostic Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ Years Exp. Generator Maintenance
  • Graduation from a Technical School preferred
  • AAS Electrical Power Generator Tech a big Plus
  • Military Experience is a Plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of critical power systems installation, start-up and commissioning.
  • Perform diagnostic and repair procedures on all systems including PLCs, AC/DC, and switch gears.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on electric power generation equipment including gas and diesel engines, generators, and transfer switches.
  • Coordination with installing electrical contractors.
  • Oversee correction of issues arising from commissioning.
  • Become familiar with working off-site and with mining companies.
  • Testing and troubleshooting various sized generators.
