About The Position

Riot is seeking a Critical Operations Engineer to join our team in Rockdale, Texas. In this hands-on role, you will help ensure the reliability, efficiency, and uptime of our mission-critical infrastructure by operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical systems. From HVAC and chilled water systems to UPS equipment, generators, and critical power distribution, you will play a key role in supporting a fast-paced, mission-critical environment. This position may require flexibility to work day, swing, or night shifts based on operational needs.

Requirements

  • Tech I: 0–2+ years of experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, or technical maintenance field (internship/trade school acceptable)
  • Tech I: Basic understanding of safety practices and willingness to learn technical systems and processes
  • Tech I: Exposure to mechanical, electrical, or life safety systems
  • Tech I: Familiarity with maintenance environments or technical tools
  • Tech I: Interest in pursuing technical certifications or trade development
  • Tech II: 3–6+ years of experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, controls, or a related technical field
  • Tech II: Strong understanding of mechanical or electrical theory and its practical application
  • Tech II: Experience performing maintenance and troubleshooting on technical systems
  • Tech II: Experience in critical environments (data centers, healthcare, manufacturing, power, etc.)
  • Tech II: Knowledge of asset management or maintenance tracking systems
  • Tech II: Experience interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
  • Tech II: Knowledge of integrated building systems and controls
  • Tech II: Trade certification or state licensure (Electrical or HVAC)
  • Tech III: 6+ years of experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, controls, or related technical field
  • Tech III: Strong expertise in advanced troubleshooting, system integration, and independent decision-making
  • Tech III: Comprehensive understanding of electrical, mechanical, and control systems integration
  • Tech III: Experience managing vendors, projects, and maintenance programs, including oversight of project execution and vendor coordination.
  • Tech III: Experience leveraging AI tools for operational efficiency and predictive maintenance
  • Tech III: Demonstrated application of responsible AI practices and continuous AI skill development
  • Tech III: Professional affiliations (7x24 Exchange, IFMA, etc.)
  • Tech III: Advanced certifications or licensures in electrical, mechanical, or controls disciplines
  • Strictly adhere to all site safety protocols and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots).
  • Proactively identify, report, and mitigate potential workplace hazards or unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety training.
  • Keep all work areas clean and free of obstructions to prevent workplace accidents.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on operations and maintenance across electrical or mechanical systems to ensure uptime, efficiency, and safety.
  • Apply mechanical and electrical theory to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot facility systems, demonstrating working knowledge of integrated electrical, mechanical, and controls environments.
  • Complete work orders accurately and on time within the site’s asset management system.
  • Utilize control room systems to monitor and diagnose system alerts, respond to events, and inspect equipment to identify risks, faults, and inefficiencies.
  • Respond independently to facility events using established procedures and escalate when necessary.
  • Troubleshoot, evaluate, and recommend system improvements or upgrades to enhance operational efficiency and maintenance programs.
  • Author procedures and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities and contribute to maintenance planning.
  • Support vendor and contractor management by coordinating onsite maintenance activities, including scheduling, oversight, and ensuring adherence to site standards and procedures.
