About The Position

The North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS) is an online K-12 public school serving students throughout North Carolina. NCVPS provides students with access to online courses that may not be available locally due to teacher shortages or scheduling conflicts, ensuring equity of access to high-quality education. In addition to curriculum courses, NCVPS offers critical language courses, including Korean. Critical Language Coaches are matched with students based on demand and coach availability. This role offers a flexible schedule to accommodate students between 8:00 AM–9:00 PM EST, Monday-Thursday. Coaches will work with multiple student groups, conducting two 45-minute virtual classroom sessions per week per group to facilitate practice exercises and provide real-time feedback. Coaches must possess their own computer, headset/microphone, and reliable high-speed internet. As this is a remote position, coaches are expected to host all assigned sessions unless prevented by unforeseen events or severe illness.

Requirements

  • Score of at least Advanced Low on the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) examination OR professional working proficiency in the Korean language.
  • Must have own computer, a headset or microphone, and access to reliable high-speed internet.
  • Eligibility to work in the USA.
  • Must complete required paperwork within 30 days of hiring acceptance date.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience, especially in online settings.
  • A current teaching license can be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Meet in a virtual classroom with a small group of students for two 45-minute sessions per week to facilitate practice exercises and provide real-time feedback.
  • Host all assigned coaching sessions unless there is an unforeseen event or severe illness.
  • Provide online instruction via Zoom.
