Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years mission critical services work/applied learning experience (e.g., high availability assembly/manufacturing/critical infrastructure environments such as data centers, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or related fields) OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States that does not now or in the future require employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform occasional climbing of ladders, frequent climbing of stairs and/or ramps, and prolonged standing. Lift up to 25lbs without assistance, 25-50lbs with lift assistance, and push or pull 50-75 lbs with an assistive device. Maintain normal visual acuity and color vision.
  • Work for extended periods under elevated levels of ambient noise, heat, and light due to equipment and ventilation systems.
  • May travel up to 25% domestically for training or site support. May work 12-hour shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Understand, follow, and ensure safety and security requirements (e.g., JHAs, toolbox talks), and business processes and procedures are met for safe, quality, and reliable work in accordance with AHJ regulations and Microsoft requirements.
  • Recognize and respond to unsafe working conditions, escalating immediately when observed and promoting a safe working culture.
  • Participate in required meetings, trainings, and handoffs. Assess and identify appropriate resources and equipment for EHS objectives. Actively maintain safe working conditions.
  • Prepare and submit highly complex reports, develop MOPs, SOPs, and/or DMOPs for complex equipment, and review work from less experienced technicians.
  • Provide assignment and completion oversight of team members for mandatory, technical, and procedural training. Assign and oversee procedure development and reporting.
  • Analyze findings from reports and document observations.
  • Guide, oversee, and perform various types of maintenance (planned, predictive, corrective) and repairs for multiple disciplines and equipment types with no supervision, serving as a subject matter expert for one discipline.
  • Communicate and/or escalate maintenance activities per established process and procedure. Prioritize maintenance activities and document tasks or issues within appropriate systems.
  • Provide consultation to colleagues on maintenance and repairs, mastering the maintenance of all systems and equipment and understanding levels of risk (LORs).
  • Plan, coordinate, and present maintenance items for review and approval.
  • Provide or assign team members to escort third-party contractors, sub-contractors, vendors, and service providers on site.
  • Participate in getting third-party work underway, ensuring safe and compliant execution. Ensure work performed by suppliers/vendors is to scope and documentation is correct.
  • Coordinate and/or assign team members to coordinate across all LOR applicable to preventative and/or corrective maintenance. Coordinate and schedule supplier/vendor on-site activities.
  • Resolve or escalate observed vendor quality issues. Review and approve vendor supplier field service reports, invoices, and work orders.
  • Process MSOW documents. Lead and provide guidance on coordinating activities and establishing schedules with contractors. Perform inspections of equipment and participate in testing and commissioning activities.
  • Advise engineer partners or project management colleagues on project scope, process, or execution methodology. Present MSOW for review and approval.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, performing troubleshooting independently for multiple equipment, systems, subsystems, and component types. Document issues found.
  • Ensure equipment and system settings are consistent with established parameters and designs. Determine when troubleshooting efforts are adequate and communicate or escalate as needed.
  • Have a hands-on understanding of how equipment in all disciplines work and how to troubleshoot to subsystem level. Provide consultation to less experienced colleagues.
  • Ensure troubleshooting completion paths are escalated appropriately and successfully. Oversee and advise team members on troubleshooting systems and/or investigate root causes.
  • Oversee team in the inspection and supervision of critical environment-related facility equipment (e.g., controls, HVAC, mechanical systems), building, and grounds regularly for unsafe or abnormal conditions.
  • Understand critical system alarms for multiple disciplines, their meanings, and engage with appropriate escalation processes or procedures. Recognize circumstances where execution would be considered safe to proceed.
  • Perform various inspections and validations of equipment performance. Monitor performance from central monitoring locations (e.g., Facility Operations Centers) and understand risks or impacts to other subsystems.
  • Utilize telemetry, control systems, and other platforms to monitor site status, analyze past and current events, and identify all alarms. Use technical expertise and device analytics to recognize trends with equipment behavior.
  • Advise less experienced colleagues on issues found while monitoring applicable CE systems. Ensure monitoring equipment repair, replacement, and maintenance work meets or exceeds Microsoft SLA requirements.
  • Use data trends to develop or produce predictive analyses of equipment performance.
  • Work on complex, advanced tasks (e.g., stabilization, resolution, recovery) independently. Serve as an operations specialist and provide oversight and training/mentorship to team members.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and operate equipment and systems across all disciplines with knowledge of their interactions and overall data center operation.
  • Safely and quickly respond to and lead an onsite incident response team for all abnormal conditions impacting operations, and coordinate corrective repairs without supervision.
  • Gather necessary information and create incident timelines/data, root-cause analyses, and/or action items following an abnormal condition. Identify and contact/engage appropriate parties to mitigate incidents.
  • Develop new or follow preexisting emergency operating procedures (EOPs), MOPs, SOPs, and DMOPs in relation to incidents. Directly provide and lead emergency monitoring response plans.
  • Oversee team during emergency incident management, assigning tasks for corrective repair. Communicate directly to leadership, advising the business on current conditions, safety concerns, and next steps.
  • Oversee incident detection, analysis, and containment efforts. Serve as technical expert in ensuring EOPs are consistent with proper incident response.
  • Utilize internal CMMS to track all equipment assets and complete work order requests. Track utilization and time tracking results for team members.
  • Review and validate data, documents, changes logged, and procedures upkeep details conducted by team members. Guide and coach team in CMMS usage best practices.
  • Audit and review team's data to ensure performance adherence to assigned work tasks. Generate reporting from CMMS for outstanding and ongoing work orders.
  • Review spare equipment and parts, update stock, and signal stock replenishment with suppliers and/or coordination with Materials Handling partners.
