About The Position

Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists (BEVS) is seeking a Veterinary Criticalist to join their team. BEVS is Vermont's only specialty and 24/7 emergency animal hospital, handling complex cases from the region. The hospital boasts advanced on-site equipment including MRI, CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and radioiodine therapy. It features a multidisciplinary specialty team including internal medicine, surgery, emergency & critical care, neurology, dentistry, and ophthalmology. BEVS was founded in 1999 by local veterinarians and is led by medical leadership focused on doctor development, mentorship, and hospital culture.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (DACVECC)
  • Ability to attain VT Veterinary License
  • Successful completion of references and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Help build out and lead a formalized critical care service — developing protocols and case-management standards in collaboration with our ER and specialty teams
  • Manage complex and critical patients requiring advanced monitoring, stabilization, and intervention
  • Effectively communicate and work with staff members in a positive team driven approach to maximize patient care and client satisfaction
  • Communicate with referring veterinarians
  • Participate in ongoing professional development. Our specialists work closely with developing doctors through mentorship — including our structured EDGE program, which offers ER doctors hands-on and didactic rotations through specialty services.
