About The Position

This is an inpatient coverage role in a Surgical ICU at a Level I trauma center. The Critical Care NP/PA will work alongside Trauma Surgeons, managing an average census of 10 patients. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. The assignment is through September 30th, with an orientation date of June 12th or June 17th. Specific coverage needs are outlined for June and July, including day, night, and weekend shifts.

Requirements

  • Active Montana licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum 1-year Critical Care experience or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Montana OR Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Montana
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Proficiency in performing physical examinations and procedures relevant to their specialty
  • Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions
  • Time management skills to efficiently manage a patient workload
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a healthcare team

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
