About The Position

The Crisis Support Specialist works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of youth and families served by the National Youth Advocate Program. This position is responsible for taking after-hour calls from ERH foster parents to provide support, answer questions, address comments and/or concerns and respond with appropriate actions. Salary: $54,361 annually. In addition, there is an additional pay for on-call responsibility: $300 per month-$150 each pay period.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in human services, social work, or behavioral/social sciences.
  • Must have the ability to be and stay alert after hours; have excellent listening and speaking skills.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Good driving record
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,00/$300,000 bodily injury liability

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience in youth services, preferably with direct experience in child welfare, or foster care; preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies.
  • Develop and maintain connections with ERH foster parents.
  • Provide, at minimum, daily contact with foster parents to develop and build working relationships.
  • Handle all after-hours calls from ERH foster parents.
  • Provide live crisis support for youth and ERH foster parents in need of support.
  • Assist foster parents in de-escalating crisis situations.
  • Document all interventions and behavioral health services provided.
  • Provide crisis intervention and emotional support.
  • Identify and assist foster parents in implementing behavior stabilization techniques.
  • Provide transportation for clients when needed.
  • Gather information for incident reports from foster parents, write incident reports, and make appropriate notifications to custodial agencies.
  • Log data regarding all after-hours conversations with ERH foster homes.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
  • The person in this position needs to follow a team concept and support both agency goals and co-workers.
