About The Position

Sound Behavioral Health is seeking a crisis stabilization counselor to support families throughout North King and Snohomish Counties in Seattle, WA. Sound is a comprehensive provider of mental health and addiction treatment services, utilizing an evidence-based clinical care model called Reaching Recovery. The crisis stabilization counselor will support individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health or substance abuse issues who may be experiencing a crisis. This role involves providing community-based intervention and prevention services. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with flexible scheduling Monday-Friday between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm to accommodate the needs of the families served. The primary office is in the Lake City neighborhood of Seattle, with services provided in North King and Snohomish Counties.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a counseling-related field is required.
  • Ability to work well independently is necessary.
  • Must obtain Washington State Certified or Licensed Agency Affiliated Counselor (CAAC or LAAC) status within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master's degree in social work, psychology, or a counseling-related field is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of directly related clinical experience to the program as a clinician or case manager, and demonstrated skills in clinical assessment and treatment, preferred.
  • Direct clinical experience with minority and low-income individuals and families, preferred.
  • Washington State licensure as an LMHC, LICSW, LMFT, or associate-level is highly preferred.
  • Mental Health Professional (MHP) designation is preferred.
  • Skill and experience in working with: A wide range of emotional and behavioral problems in adults; Presenting problems of the entire family unit; Individual adult problems and marital difficulties; Communicating effectively with collateral agencies having contact with the individual and/or the family; and Early intervention and prevention as well as time-effective treatment.
  • Knowledge of community mental health systems and resources within King County is highly desirable.
  • Because of the nature of the target population, experience with diverse populations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides crisis response during working hours and on-call basis.
  • Works closely with other clinical/professional staff to maintain communication and provide feedback, to expedite implementation of assessment interventions.
  • Participates with case management to address mental health symptoms and/or challenging behaviors.
  • Facilitates relationships and serves as a link between the company, parents, guardians, local agencies and the community.
  • Creates, develops and revises Prevention and Intervention Plans with larger treatment team.
  • Facilitates relationships and serves as a link between the company, parents, guardians, local agencies and the community.
  • Coordinates and monitors discharge planning process including the development of a discharge plan and referral to follow-up resources.
  • Participate in staff meetings, individual supervision and assigned committees, as required.
  • Participate in continuing education on an annual basis.
  • Provide consultation/education services to other organizations as appropriate.
  • Maintain ethical and competent client and peer relationships in the delivery of service.
  • Relate to others in a professional manner, respectful of individual and cultural differences.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state and county laws and regulations, Sound policies and procedures and all safety regulations.
  • Understand, apply, synthesize and demonstrate recovery concepts in behavioral health.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
