About The Position

Are you passionate about supporting families impacted by domestic violence in rural communities? Join our team and make a difference in the lives of survivors. Unity House is a Rensselaer County-based human service agency that provides a wide range of services to meet the otherwise unmet needs of people in our community who are hurting and struggling. We assist those who are living in poverty, adults living with mental illness or HIV/AIDS, victims of domestic violence, and children with developmental delays. We work to achieve social justice in our community and to create a better understanding of those we serve.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• Reliable transportation, valid and clean NYS driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred.
• 1–2 years in domestic violence services or human services preferred.
• Ability to multi-task, work independently, and build community connections.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to rural populations.
• Assist survivors with safety planning and access to community resources.
• Connect clients to outside agencies and referrals for additional services.
• Conduct outreach to increase awareness of available support in the community.
• Support survivors in civil and family court proceedings.
• Foster an environment of inclusion, respect, and belonging.
