Under the general supervision of the Respite Program Manager, this role provides appropriate care and a safe, healthful environment to clients with mental illness in a crisis respite setting. Responsibilities include supervising the clients’ residential environment and providing services as required in clients’ individual recovery plans, such as meal planning, skills training, recreational activities, transportation, and family contact. This position performs moderately complex rehabilitative client care work, focusing on ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents, assisting residents as required, and maintaining the facility through cooking and cleaning. It also involves supervising medicine intake and other duties as assigned. The role requires working under general supervision with limited latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Familiarity with, or willingness to be trained in, trauma-informed care is essential, including understanding, recognizing, and responding to the effects of all types of trauma, and working in a behavioral environment that conveys dignity, respect, hopefulness, and the opportunity for choice and empowerment among consumers.
