The Crisis & Referral Specialist screens and assesses helpline callers, provides telephonic intervention and de-escalation, and uses established protocols to determine an immediate course of action. The role takes inbound calls from individuals seeking support or services, or experiencing a crisis. It includes evaluating safety risks, understanding caller needs, and developing a plan of action collaboratively with the individual. The specialist documents interactions accurately and promptly, provides linkage follow-up as directed, and coordinates with agencies, organizations, individuals, and natural support systems to help callers access appropriate resources. The role requires compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This is a primarily virtual role, with required in-person training sessions. The 24-hour call center operates every day of the year and hires for all shifts, including weekends and holidays. Training is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PST, for four weeks. Candidates generally must live within a reasonable commuting distance of a posting location unless an accommodation is granted as required by law.
