About The Position

The Crisis Professional III/IV/V in Acute Care provides advanced clinical services to individuals admitted to acute, bed‑based crisis stabilization settings. This role is responsible for ongoing clinical assessment, therapeutic intervention, and treatment planning throughout the course of an acute episode, working closely with nursing, psychiatry, and interdisciplinary team members to support stabilization, safety, and recovery. This position maintains continuous clinical oversight of assigned individuals, monitors changes in clinical presentation over time, and adjusts interventions in response to acuity, risk, and treatment response. The Crisis Professional III/IV/V contributes to milieu management, supports de‑escalation within a structured environment, and leads planning for safe and appropriate discharge to the next level of care. In addition to direct clinical work, this role serves as a senior clinical presence within the unit, supporting team decision‑making, mentoring less experienced staff, and ensuring care is delivered in a trauma‑informed, equitable, and therapeutically grounded manner.

Requirements

  • More than two years of demonstrated experience working in a community-based behavioral health setting, providing direct support or services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use challenges required
  • Bachelor’s degree plus Colorado Addiction Specialist (CAS) certification or a Master’s degree in related behavioral health field with Candidacy (i.e. LPCC)
  • Master's degree in related behavioral health field with LPC, LCSW, LAC, LMFT
  • Master’s degree in related behavioral health field plus dually licensed
  • Completion of the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) Crisis Professional Curriculum through the OwnPath Learning Hub required within 90 days of hire unless already Crisis Professional Certified
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire required; must maintain a clean driving record.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required at time or hire or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire required

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing behavioral health assessment and therapeutic intervention for individuals admitted to acute or bed‑based crisis stabilization units.
  • Monitor clinical status, risk, and treatment response over time and adjust interventions accordingly in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Deliver individual, family, and group therapeutic interventions within scope of licensure, utilizing evidence‑based and trauma‑informed practices to support stabilization and recovery.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor treatment and service plans during acute admission in collaboration with clients, families, and a multidisciplinary treatment team to support effective care transitions and continuity of services.
  • Coordinate care with internal partners (medical providers, nursing, psychiatry, case management, peers) and external community agencies to facilitate admissions, discharges, referrals, and linkage to ongoing services.
  • Advocate for clients across systems including healthcare, social services, housing, legal, and community‑based supports to ensure access to appropriate resources and services.
  • Complete timely, accurate, and comprehensive clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in accordance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and payer standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary huddles, case reviews, supervision, debriefings, and quality improvement activities to support clinical excellence and program effectiveness.
  • Support the maintenance of a safe, therapeutic, and inclusive environment; respond to emergency situations and clinical codes as needed; and perform other duties consistent with role scope and organizational needs.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and support to Crisis Professionals I/II and other team members by providing consultation, guidance, and clinical expertise within role expectations.
