About The Position

The City of Chandler Fire Department is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Crisis Interventionist Senior. This role involves providing crisis intervention and personal advocacy services for individuals and families, as requested by Fire and Police departments. Duties include on-scene crisis intervention, de-escalation, brief counseling, victim advocacy, emotional support, guidance, and short-term case management for individuals, families, and fire and police personnel. The position is scheduled to work Wednesday – Saturday 8AM – 6PM.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling or other related field.
  • 2 years of experience in social work, counseling or crisis intervention.
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
  • Versed in a variety of evidence-based substance use treatment models, patterns of substance use, withdrawal symptoms, and knowledge of treatment options to effectively educate and counsel clients.
  • Must pass a pre-employment driving record check.
  • Must pass a reference check.
  • Must be fingerprinted with successful results.
  • Must comply with the City of Chandler’s policies concerning the use of drugs and alcohol, including the Drug Free Workplace Policy which prohibits the use of recreational marijuana.

Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis intervention and personal advocacy services for individuals and families as requested by Fire and Police.
  • Perform on-scene crisis intervention.
  • Engage in de-escalation techniques.
  • Provide brief counseling.
  • Offer victim advocacy.
  • Deliver emotional support and guidance.
  • Conduct short-term case management for individuals, families, and fire and police personnel.
