About The Position

Crisis Intervention services include telephone, walk in and mobile assessment; counselors provide brief crisis counseling, conflict resolution, referrals to community resources. Work in a supportive team environment while helping people access mental health/drug and alcohol services in Centre County. CCR’s mission is connecting people to services. And, that’s exactly what you’ll be doing in this role. Here, you’ll appreciate the support and camaraderie of a local team as you provide the community with care and support that will improve their mental health and well-being. There are openings for Evening crisis counselors. The hours are 4pm-12am. We offer an extra $.75 cent shift differential for the evening and $1.50/hr. for overnight shifts. However, you must be flexible to work weekends and holidays as crisis services are 24/7, 365 days a year. The starting salary for this position is $21.54/hr. Crisis Counselors can work on call to respond to the community. The On-Call hourly rate is $23.00/hr. and we pay a stipend of $300.00 per week when covering on call for one full week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field with major course work in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, history, criminal justice, nursing, counseling, education, theology, political science or related field AND one year experience in mental health field required.
  • Associate's degree in psychology/sociology or related field plus 2 years direct mental health experience.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proof of auto insurance
  • Act 33/34 and FBI clearances will be required.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of 302/201 process
  • Knowledge of PA resources
  • Able to exercise sound judgment
  • Flexibility in scheduling
  • Take the initiative while being cooperative and empathetic
  • Maintain strict confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • Individuals who have accessed human services are encouraged to apply.
  • Degree/course work is Sociology, Social Work, Human Development and Psychology are strongly preferred
  • Be a registered nurse
  • Associates degree with minimum of 12 semester credit hours in Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology and Human Development is strongly preferred
  • 2 years of direct mental health experience is strongly preferred
  • One year experience in Crisis Services or in the mental health field preferred with a bachelors degree.
