About The Position

Center for Community Resources Crisis Intervention Services is looking for a compassionate mental health professional to join their team. The Crisis Intervention Specialist will provide telephone and mobile assessment, crisis counseling, conflict resolution, referral, and linking to community resources. This role operates within a supportive team environment, assisting individuals in Forest-Warren Counties, PA, to access mental health and drug and alcohol services. The position requires flexibility to cover weekends and respond to mental health emergencies as the service operates 24/7, 365 days a year. The starting salary is $21.54/hr, with potential for a higher salary based on experience. Crisis Counselors will participate in an on-call rotation, earning $23.00/hr for on-call duties and receiving a stipend of up to $400.00 per week when covering a full week on call.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field required.
  • Major course work in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, history, criminal justice, nursing, counseling, education, theology, political science or related field.
  • One year experience in mental health field required (with a bachelor's degree).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proof of auto insurance.
  • Act 33/34 and FBI clearances.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays and some additional office hours.
  • Able to exercise sound judgement.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques.
  • Computer literate.
  • Knowledge of 302/201 process.
  • Knowledge of PA resources.
  • Flexibility in scheduling.
  • Take the initiative while being cooperative and empathetic.

Nice To Haves

  • Individuals who have accessed human services are encouraged to apply.
  • Degree/course work in Sociology, Social Work, Human Development and Psychology are strongly preferred.
  • Be a registered nurse.
  • Have a High School diploma or equivalency AND 12 semester credit hours in Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology, Gerontology or other Social Science AND 2 years of experience in public or private human services with 1 year of mental health direct care experience.
  • Associates degree with minimum of 12 semester credit hours in Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology and Human Development is strongly preferred.
  • 2 years of direct mental health experience is strongly preferred.
  • One year experience in Crisis Services or in the mental health field preferred with a bachelors degree.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mobile mental health crisis intervention, assessment for safety and general needs.
  • Complete all reports and documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain quality standards.
  • Respond to mental health emergencies.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.
