About The Position

With limited supervision, the Crisis Clinician II provides comprehensive safety risk assessments, crisis de-escalation interventions, safety planning, hospitalization facilitation, case management, and coordination of therapeutic activities in the community. The role may work jointly with police officers and other community members on de-escalation and safety. It maintains clinical documentation and records according to applicable standards and regulations and supports individuals and their families or caregivers in designing and implementing evidence-based treatment.

The position works in person with high-risk individuals who may be a danger to themselves or others, or gravely disabled. As part of a 24/7 program, it also supports community callers through phone consultation, coaching, de-escalation, and resource referrals. The Crisis Clinician II leads cross-functional teams, conducts community outreach and trainings or presentations, and supports other mental health workers.

Requirements

• Master of Arts degree in Social Work or a closely related field, such as Marriage, Child and Family Counseling, or Psychology, and three years of supervised clinical experience with children and/or adults; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with two years of relevant experience equaling one year of education.
• Must be licensed according to California state law (Welfare and Institutions Code section 5600.2).
• Experience with Wraparound plans and development of ICFPs.
• If required by the program, pass an initial physical abilities test (PATS) and obtain crisis intervention techniques certification within the first 30 days; maintain certification annually.
• If employed at a Crisis Stabilization Unit, pass a Human Performance Evaluation Test at a designated company clinic.
• Meet the physical requirements of the position, including the ability to move quickly or run, drive a car, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Complete a full background check and TB exam.

• Identify team improvement opportunities or deficiencies and help develop strategies to address gaps.
• Lead Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities and project implementation.
• Perform other related responsibilities as assigned to support department or business needs.
