About The Position

The Prince William County Police Department is seeking a Criminal Records Section Supervisor to join the Administrative Services Bureau Records Section. This role involves direct supervision and evaluation of work performed by members of the Police Records Section, prioritizing daily tasks and processes, and ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of various Records responsibilities. Customer service to citizen requests is a top priority. The Supervisor may also assist with various workloads, including assisting the Police Records Manager with reports disseminated to the Chief of Police and the Virginia State Police. This role works closely with another Police Records Supervisor (Admin Coordinator), Police Records Manager, and Admin Bureau Lieutenant. The position requires technical knowledge of the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) or the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, experience managing criminal records and associated tasks, and the ability to provide leadership in a team setting. Success in the position requires being a creative, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and organized individual who can work in a team environment with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience working in records or law enforcement.
  • Technical knowledge of the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) or the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program.
  • Experience managing criminal records and associated tasks.
  • Ability to provide leadership in a team setting.
  • Creative, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and organized individual.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision and evaluation of work performed by members of the Police Records Section.
