About The Position

This position performs research on various criminal records from local and state agencies and is responsible for processing arrest and disposition information into the state’s criminal history repository. Additionally, the position coordinates and responds to requests for record reviews from the department, criminal justice agencies, and the public and coordinates with law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, courts, and correctional facilities to obtain source documents for criminal history events. The criminal records unit processes all disposition information into the state’s criminal history repository. The repository is used by criminal justice and non-criminal justice agencies throughout Alaska and nationwide, and the information maintained in the repository is critical for public safety to ensure decisions based on criminal history records are made using the most complete and accurate information available.

  • Must submit to state and national criminal background check.
  • Must have a clean criminal record in order to be granted access to APSIN.
  • Requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN).
  • Requires a security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to use APSIN.
  • Must read, understand, and agree to via signature, an agreement of confidentiality concerning the work commonly encountered within the Department of Public Safety.
