About The Position

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions is recruiting for multiple Criminal Justice Technician 1 positions for the Goose Creek Correctional Center (GCCC) located in Mackenzie Point, Alaska. Under the general supervision of a Staff Sergeant, the primary responsibilities of this position include computing inmate time accounting and accurately entering data into the DOC Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). This role involves accurately calculating prior service by researching probation files, court records, and through phone interviews. The technician will also calculate discretionary parole eligibility to determine when an inmate can apply for release from custody and assist institutional and field probation officers with questions regarding parole eligibility and release dates. Additionally, the position calculates furlough eligibility to determine the earliest possible transfer date to a community custody placement. Goose Creek Correctional Center is a minimum/medium custody facility that houses up to 1500 inmates and employs over 350 staff. You will be working in an institutional setting with inmates daily.

Responsibilities

  • Computing inmate time accounting and accurately entering data into the DOC Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS)
  • Accurately calculate prior service by researching probation files, court records and through phone interviews
  • Calculate discretionary parole eligibility to determine when an inmate can apply for release from custody
  • Assist institutional and field probation officers with questions they may have pertaining to parole eligibility and parole release dates and predetermine the dates the inmate is required to report when the inmate is released
  • Calculate furlough eligibility for all inmates to determine the earliest possible transfer date to a community custody placement such as a halfway house or a home confinement program
