About The Position

This position is responsible for participating in curriculum development with an emphasis on integrated curriculum and alignment of course competencies. The teacher will work with post-secondary institutions to develop articulation/Running Start/Duel Enrollment agreements and incorporate new and emerging technology into the instructional process. Key aspects of the role include building and fostering community partnerships, facilitating CTE program advisory committee meetings, and forging student work-based learning opportunities. The teacher must be a team player, establishing and maintaining cooperative professional relationships and open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues. The role requires innovation and commitment to educational change, including the implementation of Section 504 and ADA for students with disabilities. Responsibilities include planning and conducting instructional activities for a balanced program that encourages student observation, questioning, and investigation, establishing clear lesson objectives, and instructing students on the safe use and care of equipment and materials. The teacher will also establish and reinforce behavioral expectations for a safe school environment, collaborate with other instructors and administrators on CTE programming, attend staff meetings and PLCs, and serve on committees. Utilizing technology to supplement curriculum, maintaining instructional records, and ensuring regular attendance and punctuality are also required. The position demands a professional appearance and a commitment to the mission, vision, and policies of the Rochester School District, as well as maintaining professional competence through ongoing professional growth.

Requirements

  • Ability to instruct/facilitate/model content, knowledge and skills required in a specific occupation or occupational fields using a variety of teaching methods including inquiry, student agency, discussion, demonstration, on-line instructional applications, audiovisual, laboratory fields sites, and other appropriate teaching tools.
  • Ability to measure students’ understanding and obtainment of content, knowledge and skills through performance based assessments which provide students the opportunity to apply and demonstrate their mastery of course/program competency.
  • Ability to be innovative and committed to the challenge of change in education.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and reinforce expectations for behavior and procedures for maintaining a safe school environment.
  • Collaborate with other instructors and administrators in the development, evaluation and revision of CTE programming.
  • Attend staff meetings, PLCs and serve on committees as required.
  • Use technology and other materials to supplement curriculum lessons.
  • Maintain instructional/classroom records as requested/required.
  • Maintain regular consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Maintain a professional personal appearance.
  • Support and demonstrate commitment to the mission, vision, core principles and policies of the Rochester School District.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Identifies student needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Performs other such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Director or designee.
